Portable broadcasting is not always pleasant. This is completely true for a Sunday in November, on which the term VKV PA fell. As in the last round, this time too I went without a trailer, so I transported all the material in the car. It has its advantages and disadvantages. Since after the transition to winter time, VKV PA starts already at nine o'clock in the morning, so considering the length of the journey and building the setup, it makes no sense to even think about a more complex setup.
I'm leaving the house 6.45 and snowflakes fall on the land. It is clear, that if it is at altitude 200 meters, thank you 300 meters higher it will be.... cheerful. And so it was. The snow, wind, fog, the rain, the snow. The temperature is just around zero, which means, that everything is wet and cold at the moment. I am glad, when I finally hide in the car.
The heater is running, but AirScout reports, that it has no aircraft data. There is no time to find out why. I will have to do without this helper. I start searching with a little delay. There are not many stations, there is no Draho in the nearby Žalostiná OM3CQF, which, however, is not missing from the band. It is very valuable and a sign of belonging. Several stations come to the call. The azimuth on the rotator is slightly shifted, but if I have to choose, whether to get out of the car and correct it, better not. Especially since the drumming of raindrops can already be heard.
I do in the first hour 41 connections including three connections to Germany: DB7MM/P, DK1FG and DK4MD. For the second hour, I'm already focusing on multipliers. I also track nearby stations from JN87 via KST chat (HA1VQ) a JN97 (HA4BF and HA5OO). It has a unit with an asterisk OK1MHU, which comes to the sked almost immediately. Damage, that no one from Slovak KN squares on KST chat. For example, KN17 is doing well (YO5DND, YO5BQQ and YO5AVN).
Dano starts the last class, OM4AQP, who dusted off the VHF equipment and called. Italian stations also appear. It's really roaring I3QJZ from JN55 and replaces it I4GHG from JN63. I am still adding multipliers SN9W z JO90.
In summary 95 QSOs to 24 locator squares gives a little over 8,000 points. I managed to say hello to several friends. I used a Kenwood TS-2000 transceiver with HA8ET preamplifier and 4x 5 elements DK7ZB yagi.
I don't want to get out of the car though, but there is no one here, who would dismantle the antennas and mast. The temperature rose a little, so cables and that, what touched the ground - which was almost everything - is additionally muddy. Shortly before departure, two riders on horses emerge from the fog. The number of cars that could be counted on the fingers of one hand passed along the nearby road in the entire time. Out of time, that he wouldn't even chase the dog away. But you will probably drive the radio amateur out…
