Telegraphists are through A1 Contest enjoyed excellent propagation conditions. Forecasts also announced improved conditions at the end of the week with VKV PA. It appears, that they only announced...
... I prepared a new version of KST4Contest on VKV PA. It can send the collected frequency data as spots to the DX cluster. Since I use N1MM+, so it was tempting to try this option. The functionality is not perfect, because:
- to put on 144 MHz is sometimes mixed with data from 432 MHz (abbreviated in non-band frequency indication communication, for example "QSY .240")
- the frequency data can also be transmitted by the opposite station (station A requests sked station B to 144,240 MHz and station B confirms: I'm going to 144,240 MHz = both stations are marked on 144,240 MHz)
Even this relatively imperfect system brings several advantages:
- to see, which frequencies are occupied
- to see, which stations are active
- the possibility of quick tuning by clicking on the spot
Meteorologists promised relatively warm weather for mid-November, but strong wind. Last year I struggled with snow, so I was wondering how it would be now. However, on the way to Nový Mesto nad Váh, fog began to appear. And very thick too. Černecký vrch also welcomes me with this: fog, weaker wind and 1.5°C plus. I am also raised in worse weather, so it wasn't that difficult.
You can see in the fog for a few meters. Even on the strip it looks like in a fog. After some initial connections, I go to try the challenge. Due to the proximity of the maximum of the Leonid meteor shower this time I chose the frequency in the lower part of the SSB segment. Mostly stations from a short distance arrive. Števo has an excellent signal OM2ABC, who overtook Karol in a direct battle of callers OM1AKU. It will surprise E70SIC followed E73O.
As it is empty on the band, that's how it looks in the KST chat too. Several stations are dedicated to reflections from the meteor shower and do not respond to requests for sked. My mood will be improved by the connection with SP6CPF from JO71 by bouncing off the plane. A really strong signal! A moment for that SP3KEY also from JO71 the signal is on the edge - but it was successful. I end the first hour by connecting with Peter OE6V, which I was looking for because of JN76.
It will be possible only at the beginning of the second hour I4GHG and unexpectedly comes too HA5OO from JN97. Endre apologized, that he had many sked requests and only now got to mine. He is calling from Žalostiná OM3WMA. The broadcast center in JN88RT is expensive this time OM3CQF divides Vlad. I receive a unit as a serial number from several stations. They are mostly OE stations. He surprised, for example OE3KAR from JN88 and OE3REC z JN77. The second hour fixed the number of multipliers a bit.
I start the last class with IZ1ESM z JN45, which is almost 800 kilometers! I'm making a couple of quick connections over the band. This is where data helps, which KST4Contest writes to the bandmap. In the meantime, I call the challenge and it comes IK3SSG from JN55 followed I3QJZ from the same square. It also passes between Italians S59K and concludes this series IK4GNG from JN64. Even though it's almost noon, so there is still someone to connect with. There are also six connections with 9A and two with E7. Also thanks to the unusually strong last hour, it is at the end 104 contacts. Since I do not count the number of squares during VKV PA, I just visualize them on the map, so final 29 locator squares is a surprise. That at 392 points up to 11368 end points. The average per connection is 3,77 point.
