It was an interesting experience participating in an RTTY contest. Due to time constraints, I chose only one band, 15m. I gained some experience. Perhaps the most important thing is that even a standard 500 Hz filter isn’t sufficient for QRM in large contests. If the exchanged code were more complex, it would be very difficult to correctly decode many stations amid the interference.
Later, Janko OM8LA and I compared the MixW2 and MMVARI engines for reception. The differences aren’t significant; in fact, MMVARI decoded better in some situations. However, MixW2 has a more user-friendly interface. Janko also shared some tips regarding contest macros.
