Great news has come from the judge of the CQ WW Contest, the largest amateur radio contest: OM0A (op. OM0AAO) is the world champion in the Single-Op Xtreme category!
In October 2011, I operated my own remote station in this contest and managed to make nearly 1,500 contacts. Combined with the evaluation of the technical setup, this was enough to secure the victory and win the K3TUP Memorial plaque.
I believe that as interference levels rise and problems with setting up antenna systems—especially in cities—become more common, remote stations will see significant growth in the coming years. I’m rooting for you as you set up your own remote station, and if you’re interested, I can offer advice on getting it up and running. GL!
