OM Activity Contest with MP3 recordings of contacts – April 2025

The April OM Activity Contest coincided with the Remata and Drozdovo meetups, which likely contributed to the lower turnout for the contest. Karol OM5KP (OM9OT) was also absent; although he didn’t compete, he used to participate regularly. Unfortunately, he will be missing us permanently…

I’m starting at the lower end of the band, but given the propagation conditions, my QRP power, and the reasons mentioned above, not many stations are calling. The differences in signal strength are more pronounced than usual. After five minutes, a station tunes in a kilohertz higher—one that apparently can’t hear me. Since there’s nowhere else to go, I start scanning the band and making contacts. I find an open frequency at 3767 kHz, so I try calling again.

Compare the differences in reception of the same station in February and April:

OK2DC in February

OK2DC in April

On my end, I’m using an inverted V antenna and a Yaesu FT-1000MP transceiver with the same settings. There’s a noticeable difference in reception, even though the OK2DC signal is of similar strength.

Results and MP3 Recordings from the OM Activity Contest

I managed 54 contacts and 20 multipliers. Stations such as OM7KW, OM3SEM, and OM2RL were apparently not on the band. Hopefully, every station that wanted to participate found a spot. Here is a log of all the contacts:
