Problem with N1MM Log Synchronization

For quite some time, I’ve been “struggling” with the constantly failing synchronization of the N1MM contest log, which we also plan to use in the WPX contest. Synchronization between the log and the IC-756 ProIII (with Ham Radio Controller) did occur, but after a few minutes and some frequency changes, it would break down. Meanwhile, synchronization with another log, such as Ham Radio Deluxe, was not a problem.

Števo—OM7KW—also confirmed this problem for me; he, too, occasionally experienced a “connection drop” between his logbook and the FT-847. Worst of all, after such a “drop,” in most cases I couldn’t even properly restart or shut down the ASUS V1S laptop.

After trying a wide range of different software settings offered by the logbook, I began to suspect a hardware issue as well. So I installed the logbook on a second laptop, an ASUS EeePC. The error occurred on both. Third time’s the charm, so I took advantage of the fact that my son had just reinstalled his older HP N6110 laptop, which is several classes weaker in performance than the ASUS but “clean”— with only the operating system installed—and after two days of testing, the journal has no problem syncing on this PC!

Now there’s just one “little thing” left: to try to figure out what the logbook “doesn’t like” on a PC that’s been running the operating system and a bunch of programs for quite some time?

If I figure it out, I’ll definitely let you know 🙂
