SSB League with MP3 Recordings of Contacts – April 2023

The April SSB League is the first one after the switch to daylight saving time. The one-hour shift in morning propagation conditions on 80 meters isn’t always ideal. However, with 92 contacts in the first hour, it didn’t seem too bad.

Before the contest, I pick up Milan OM2KI’s signal and we exchange a few words. Milan is a top-notch contest operator. On VHF, he can be heard as OM2Y, where he and Jan OM2IB transmit from Pecková Hill, which is just a few kilometers from the location I’m using.

I start the SSB League by calling, and the contacts come in fairly quickly. I’m also managing to make contacts on the FT-1000MP’s second VFO as SO2V (SO2R operation on a single transceiver). Two contacts to the Ilava district (OM4AJK and OM3TGE) came as a surprise. I can’t remember the last time I logged this district in the SSB League.

After an hour of operation, there are 92 contacts in the log. You can listen to the signal recordings again this time:

The picture shows an older setup. I’m preparing a video soon with a few tips from the N1MM+ log that are also suitable for contests like the SSB League.
