For family reasons, I didn’t go out for portable operating this time, even though the December temperatures weren’t unfavorable for portable operating. On Saturday afternoon, I set up a DK7ZB quad Yagi antenna in the garden, which I first used that evening for a meteor scatter QSO. On Sunday, it was time to test the VHF PA.
Staying up late didn’t do me any favors, and since I wasn’t feeling well, I only made 14 contacts across five locator squares in just under two hours. I wasn’t able to make a contact via aircraft bounce with YT5W. There were few stations, even on the ON4KST chat, and they were either working meteor scatter or the 70-cm band.
