There are many ways to evaluate the results of the WPX contest based on various criteria. We may have to wait a few months for the official—final—results of this global amateur radio shortwave contest. I will therefore attempt to evaluate the results achieved by the OM0A WPX contest team in terms of the contacts made with various countries listed in the DXCC by “continent.”

AF – Africa:
3V – Tunisia, 6W – Senegal, C9 – Mozambique, CN – Morocco, CT3 – Madeira, D4 – Cape Verde, EA8 – Canary Islands, Z8 – South Africa
AS – Asia:
4L – Georgia, 4X – Israel, 5B – Cyprus, 9M2 – West Malaysia, A6 – United Arab Emirates, A7 – Qatar, BY – China, EK – Armenia, EX – Kyrgyzstan, KS – Thailand, JA – Japan, JT – Mongolia, TA – Turkey, UA9 – Asian Russia, UN – Kazakhstan, VR – Hong Kong
NA – North America:
8P – Barbados, FM – Martinique, HI – Dominican Republic, K – United States of America, OX – Greenland, VE – Canada
SA – South America:
HK – Colombia, LU – Argentina, P4 – Aruba, PJ2 – Netherlands Antilles, PY – Brazil
OC – Oceania:
9M6 – East Malaysia, DU – Philippines, KH0 – Mariana Islands, V8 – Brunei Darussalam, VK – Australia, YB – Indonesia, ZL – New Zealand
EU – Europe:
50 countries

A total of 1,476 contacts were made with 92 DXCC countries.
In the case of an individual contest (and after QSL confirmation), this result would almost qualify one to apply for one of the rarer amateur radio diplomas—the DXCC. In the next contest (perhaps the CQWW Contest in October 2009), we will definitely strive to surpass 100 DXCC countries in a single contest.

I wish all amateur radio operators and casual visitors to this site a peaceful Easter holiday, and an abundance of health, happiness, and love.
